Pedri: "The Ballon d'Or? I dream of winning it in the next ten years, along with the World Cup."

Pedro Gonzalez Lopez, aka Pedri, of Barcelona
Barcelona, August 9, 2025 – Dream big? Why not? This is precisely the opinion of Pedri , Barcelona midfielder, who in an interview with L'Equipe revealed his ambitions for the future, from individual trophies to those with the club, not to mention successes with the national team. Born in 2002, the 2020-21 season was the decisive one to showcase him to the general public, thanks to excellent performances both with Barcelona and Spain, with whom he reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020. The last year has undoubtedly been the best of the midfielder's career: from winning the European Championship in Germany with his national team to his absolute dominance in Spain, winning La Liga , the Spanish Super Cup , and the Copa del Rey with Barcelona. The number 8 has become the guiding light of the Blaugrana midfield, and his 59 appearances demonstrate Flick 's complete faith in him and his potential. But the Spanish talent still has much to contribute to football, and in an interview with L'Equipe, he revealed all his dreams and ambitions. After the European Championship, Pedri has one goal: to win the World Cup with Spain. The Reds have proven themselves to be one of the strongest national teams in the world, with a tremendous quality that is destined to grow in the future, especially given the young age of players like Yamal, Huijsen, and Cubarsí. But the midfielder's dreams don't stop at winning the World Cup with his country. Another goal, in fact, is winning the Ballon d'Or . Although it's an award often won by strikers, Pedri is confident he can win it, thanks in part to last year's triumph, when Manchester City midfielder Rodri triumphed. So the 2002-born player isn't holding back or hiding, but first and foremost he'll have to focus on defending last season's success, as Real Madrid is more aggressive than ever and wants to reclaim the Spanish throne. Then there's the Champions League , where Barcelona came within a whisker of reaching the final. Improving on last season's performance will be difficult, but the Blaugrana want to surprise everyone once again.
